Meta Platforms acquires Singaporean AI startup Manus for over two billion dollars to invest more in AI agents.

In a deal worth over two billion dollars, Meta acquires AI startup Manus. The Singapore-based company gained global attention earlier this year with an agent that independently performs tasks via a web browser, without human intervention.

The startup broke through in March, shortly after the emergence of the Chinese DeepSeek, and stood out for its broad applicability. For example, Manus could write resumes, build software, and design complete websites. Videos circulated on social media showing the agent independently searching for an apartment and analyzing crime rates and commute times. This positioned Manus as one of the first AI agents for a broad audience.

Rapid growth and solid figures

Despite the hype fading, Manus continued to grow, according to SiliconANGLE. After a $75 million funding round in April, the platform reportedly processed 147 trillion tokens this year, ran more than 80 million virtual computers, and served millions of users and companies. Manus is said to have achieved an annual recurring revenue of $100 million after just eight months, mainly through subscriptions.

Meta says that Manus will initially continue to exist as a separate service, but that the technology will gradually be integrated into the Meta AI ecosystem. This will allow billions of users to use the agent in the long term.
