LinkedIn adds another AI feature to its platform: AI-powered search.
After two years of experimenting with AI in advertising, content creation, and job recommendations, LinkedIn is now bringing AI to one of its core functions: search.
The Fastest Way
Until now, users had to navigate through various filters and job titles to find the right person. The new AI-driven search function puts an end to that. Users can now simply search in natural language, with commands like “Find healthcare investors with FDA experience” or “Who in my network can help me understand wireless networks?”
According to Rohan Rajiv, Senior Director Product Management at LinkedIn, the update should “become the fastest way to the person who can help you the most.” LinkedIn had previously added AI-powered search to find job openings for job seekers.
LinkedIn Follows AI Trend in Search World
Search platforms such as Google, Bing, and Reddit are also using AI to provide more relevant answers. LinkedIn remains open for use by AI browsers and agents for now, although Rajiv thinks clearer guidelines on the use of platform data will come later.
Although the search function is not yet perfect, as some search queries yield vague results, LinkedIn promises to improve accuracy. For now, the AI search function is only available in the US, but “further expansion will follow later”.
