Genetec updates access control in Security Center with cloud-based features

Genetec

Genetec introduces new updates for its Security Center SaaS platform. These enhancements simplify access control, optimize visitor management, and offer more hardware options without infrastructure changes.

Genetec, known for its physical security software, has announced new updates for its Security Center SaaS. These updates focus on modernizing access control processes and improving the operational efficiency of security teams. The goal of these updates is to reduce friction in traditional upgrade cycles without requiring organizations to make major changes to their existing infrastructure.

According to Francis Lachance, Senior Director of Product at Genetec, the platform offers a flexible solution that enables security teams to scale and adapt to changing needs without compromising on safety.

Enhanced visitor management

A key component of the updates is the new front desk experience. This feature integrates visitor check-in and access workflows into a single cloud-based system. This allows reception staff to efficiently manage both scheduled and unscheduled visitors from a unified interface. At the same time, security teams maintain a clear overview of visitor flows.

Integrated access control policies ensure that visitors gain access securely, based on external databases. In the event of discrepancies, pre-set actions, such as alerting security personnel, can be activated immediately, which is crucial for schools, healthcare institutions, and offices.

Without infrastructure changes

Security Center SaaS is designed to enable organizations to retain their existing hardware while benefiting from cloud-based advantages. Thanks to the open architecture and Genetec Cloudlink devices, various security systems can be managed via a single interface. This offers flexibility without the need to purchase new hardware.

Support for intrusion detection systems has been expanded to include Radionix, Honeywell, and soon DMP. Additionally, the inclusion of SAFR SCAN offers the possibility of implementing facial recognition, ensuring fast and secure authentication.

The new features are available immediately for all Security Center SaaS users. Extended support for Honeywell Galaxy and DMP panels is expected in June 2026, as is the integration of SAFR biometrics.
