Genetec Expands Security Center SaaS with New Functionality

Genetec

Genetec expands Security Center SaaS with improved cloud camera support, local storage, and integrations with analytical tools.

Genetec has added new features to its Security Center SaaS platform, including more extensive support for cloud cameras, enhanced storage options, and integrations with third-party analytical tools.

Security Center SaaS unifies video surveillance, access control, intrusion detection, and forensic analytical tools in one platform. Users can opt for a full cloud implementation or a hybrid approach with on-premises systems.

Direct-to-cloud Cameras

The latest updates increase support for direct-to-cloud cameras and enable local storage of footage via SD cards. This reduces bandwidth usage and makes security system management more flexible.

The software now also supports more hardware types from manufacturers including Axis, Bosch, and i-PRO, including PTZ and fisheye cameras. The latter receive automatic image correction. Existing equipment that is not cloud-ready can still be connected to the platform via Genetec devices. This allows organizations to maintain their current infrastructure while still transitioning to a cloud or hybrid model.

Management and Streaming

Security Center SaaS offers central control via the internet and mobile apps. Thanks to WebRTC, live footage can be streamed peer-to-peer directly from cameras to a browser stream. This reduces startup time for live monitoring and limits data usage. Security environments across multiple locations – such as in retail, education, banking, or healthcare – can be managed from a single central point.

A new integration with a Bosch weapon detection solution allows for automatic alerts to be generated when a firearm appears in view. These alerts can be linked to predefined actions, enabling security teams to respond quickly.

With these updates, Genetec aims to continue expanding its platform with cloud-based features, while allowing customers to continue using existing infrastructure.
