Dell Technologies and Microsoft are expanding Azure Local to Dell Private Cloud, PowerStore and PowerScale. Both parties are targeting businesses that want a unified management layer for on-premises workloads, in Azure and at the edge.
Azure Local brings Azure control plane services to Dell’s infrastructure. Organizations can run cloud-native services closer to their data while maintaining centralized management through Azure. The integration focuses on data-intensive and latency-sensitive workloads.
Azure Local
Dell Private Cloud gains support for Azure Local. The platform allows compute and storage to scale independently. IT teams can manage hybrid environments through a single stack and modernize applications step by step, without completely dismantling the existing data center.
Dell PowerStore also integrates with Azure Local. The storage solution must support both traditional and modern workloads within a single hybrid architecture. Organizations can align storage policies and capacity with Azure-based services while keeping data local for compliance or latency requirements.

Additionally, PowerScale for Azure becomes available as cloud-native file storage in Azure. The service provides file storage up to 8.4 petabytes in a single namespace and supports NFS, SMB and S3. Management can be handled entirely by Dell or by the customer, with integration into existing support processes. The combination targets applications such as AI, analytics and media production.
Support for Azure Local on Dell Private Cloud and PowerStore will launch in spring 2026 for a limited group of customers. They will be the first to test the new capabilities in production environments. PowerScale for Azure is immediately available through the Microsoft Marketplace.
