Users of the most expensive subscription are suddenly blocked, without explanation from Anthropic.
Since Monday morning, Claude Code users have been facing usage restrictions. Especially users with the Max subscription of 200 dollars per month report that they can barely execute prompts.
“Limit Reached” without Warning
The message “limit reached” appears without warning or further information. That limit usually resets after a few hours, but users received no prior warning about changed limits. On GitHub, users talk about incorrect counting of their messages or even that they suddenly have a cheaper subscription.
Anthropic acknowledges that there are issues but provides no further explanation. “We are aware that some Claude Code users are experiencing slow responses and are working on a solution,” says a spokesperson. This week also saw the launch of Claude Code analytics, but the problems were already occurring then.
Frustration at its Peak
The confusion adds to broader network issues at Anthropic, writes TechCrunch. API users have reported frequent errors in recent days, but the status page indicates that Claude Code remains constantly online.
Anthropic’s pricing structure contributes to the uncertainty. Although the Max plan promises “20 times more limit” than the Pro plan, this is not guaranteed anywhere. As a result, even paying users do not know exactly what to expect, and the lack of communication causes great frustrations.
