Zoom is dropping the “Video” from its name and will go by the name Zoom Communications Inc. from now on.
Zoom is changing the name of its Zoom Video Communications to Zoom Communication Inc. and dropping the “Video. With this, the company wants to emphasize that they are more than just video meetings, something that was initially their banner. According to Zoom, more and more employees are moving back to the office, which the video in their name no longer fully covers. They are branding themselves as an AI-first company, trying to compete with big tech giants like Goolge, Slack and Microsoft.

Zoom no longer wants to be known solely for its video, as today’s work environment is evolving again toward the office. “We are an AI-first company that delivers modern, hybrid work solutions that allow you to collaborate seamlessly,” Zoom CEO Eric S. Yuan said in a blog post. For those simple reasons, Zoom is dropping the “video” part from its name, and will go by as Zoom Communicatoins Inc. from now on.
