Anthropic raises the price of its latest AI model Claude 3.5 Haiku.

In March this year, Anthropic launched the Claude 3 family: a trio of models including Sonnet, Opus and Haiku. The latter positioned the company as excelling in speed and affordability. Last month, Anthropic announced the latest generation of the model: Claude 3.5 Haiku. Initially, the price would not differ greatly compared to its predecessor, but Anthropic now seems to be backtracking on that. Do the price of Claude 3 Haiku times four, and you arrive at the price of Claude 3.5 Haiku.

Price quadrupled

Claude 3.5 Haiku was launched last month. It is available through Anthropic’s API and some third-party platforms, such as AWS Bedrock and Google Cloud’s Vertex AI. “Haiku is fast and extremely strong at coding. It outperforms state-of-the-art models, including GPT-4o, on SWE-bech Verified, which measures how models really solve software problems,” Anthropic said in a post on X.

Although Claude 3.5 Haiku can output longer pieces of text compared to Claude 3 Haiku, it is not capable of generating images. “For users who need maximum cost efficiency and image processing, Claude 3 Haiku remains available through our API at our lowest price point,” said Alex Albert, head of developer relations at Anthropic in a post on X.
