OpenAI, developer of ChatGPT, is setting up an office in Brussels. The company itself announced this on X.
OpenAI chooses the Belgian capital to open a new office. This is a smart strategic move, as several European institutions are located in Brussels. In what location and when the office will be there is not yet known.
Global expansion
OpenAI is expanding significantly, with new offices in Paris, Seattle, New York and Singapore in addition to Brussels. Then OpenAI will also have a second office in Asia. It is said to be working on a model of GPT-4 fully adapted to the Japanese language. The existing buildings in San Francisco, London, Dublin and Tokyo will be enlarged. An application process is already underway, Belga knows.
That expansion is probably the most logical next step after a recent investment round, in which OpenAI raised 6.6 billion in fresh capital. This increased the company’s value to $157 billion. Microsoft and Nvidia were some key investors, but Apple pulled out of the funding round.
Recently, the ChatGPT developer launched Canvas, an entirely new coding interface within ChatGPT. Which is designs to streamline writing and coding tasks. For now, Canvas is only available in beta version for ChatGPT Plus and Team users, but it proves once again OpenAI’s ongoing focus on growth and innovation.
