Since Trump is back in power in the United States, major American social media platforms have been taking a different course. Platforms such as X, Facebook, and Instagram are cutting back on content moderation and are no longer so strict with European regulations. This can cause friction for users and companies in Europe, as evidenced by a survey conducted by ITdaily among its readers about their social media policies.

For a small majority (53%) of the 126 respondents, nothing has changed. For 30 percent of the sample, this is because they simply weren’t active on social media. 23 percent indicate they are still as active as before.
Time to Leave
47 percent are gradually getting fed up with the antics of Elon Musk, Mark Zuckerberg, and co. Most respondents are currently (?) opting to partially scale back their activity on social media. 23 percent post less or not at all, 5 percent are keeping a tight rein on advertising spending. 19 percent have taken drastic action and deleted accounts.
