HPE reports record quarter thanks to Juniper acquisition

The acquisition of Juniper Networks is paying off for HPE. The company recorded its highest revenue ever last quarter, partly thanks to strong growth in networking activities.

HPE is thriving, according to the latest quarterly results the company announced on Monday. With $10.7 billion, a forty percent increase year-over-year, HPE not only recorded its highest quarterly revenue ever but also exceeded all expectations. HPE’s networking division rose by 148 percent in just one year, reaching $2.7 billion.

HPE CEO Antonio Neri is keen to highlight the strong growth of the networking division in his review. The acquisition of Juniper Networks, finalized last year after a long approval process, seems to have an immediate positive impact. Neri speaks without hesitation and in baseball terms of a ‘homerun’.

$14 billion gamble

HPE has every reason to feel vindicated. When it announced in early 2024 that it wanted to acquire Juniper Networks for $14 billion, the reaction was skeptical. Investors felt the price HPE wanted to pay was far too high. The fact that regulators also refused to cooperate with the acquisition for a long time fueled those doubts.

The quarterly figures now seem to prove HPE right. The combination of Juniper Networks with Aruba, which has been under its wing for ten years, turned HPE into a networking giant that even established names like Cisco are wary of. With Juniper Networks, a touch of AI was added to the networking equipment of the Aruba portfolio, with the goal of developing the ‘self-driving network’. “This is no longer a concept, but a reality,” Neri states.

Whether HPE can maintain this momentum in the coming quarters seems like a certainty to Neri. After all, the demand for AI is too high, and AI-powered networks reduce the costs of management and incident response. Neri: “We are not seeing any slowdown. No one wants to be left behind when it comes to the implementation of AI.”

The forecasts for the coming fiscal year have therefore been adjusted upwards. HPE expects to achieve its fiscal goals set for 2028 as early as this year. If that succeeds, HPE has gambled and won with Juniper Networks, and $14 billion will seem like a pittance in a few years.
