The Apple Vision Pro is not reaching expected sales figures at all. Those who did buy the device are said to be using it less and less.
Apple’s mixed reality headset is reportedly working well, but that does not translate into sales figures. Fewer than 500,000 units have been sold since its launch in February. That’s what IDC predicted back in July. That low figure is caused by several reasons, including the high purchase price.
Not yet a success story
According to a newsletter read by WCCF Tech, the Apple Vision Pro is being used less than expected by people who did go deep into the pocket. Competitors like Meta are said to be suffering from this as well. The VR, AR and mixed reality industries are actually still in their infancy and consumers do not have the same interest in them as smartphones or tablets.
It’s not that the device doesn’t get enough support: in August it reached the 2,500 native apps mark, in addition to the 1.5 iPad and iPhone apps you can open in a floating window. Still, Apple decided to scale back production thanks to low interest.
