According to the Anthropic CEO, within five years half of all entry-level positions will be taken over by AI.
Dario Amodei, CEO of AI company Anthropic, warns that AI could eliminate half of all entry-level office jobs within five years. In an interview with Axios, he speaks of a potential unemployment rate of up to 20 percent in the United States.
Own Technology as a Threat
Ironically, it’s Amodei’s own company that contributes to this development. Yet he calls for immediate action: a “token tax” on AI profits should enable redistribution. “Not in my interest,” he says, “but a fair solution.”
From Theory to Practice
According to Amodei, sectors such as finance, law, and technology are already feeling the first AI impact. Entry-level positions are particularly vulnerable, precisely because they consist of repetitive tasks that models can now perform more cheaply.
Not everyone shares this doom scenario. Mark Cuban sees AI as an engine for new employment, just as the industrial revolution was. He advocates for innovation, education, and entrepreneurship as a response to the changes.
It’s true that AI is already putting pressure on starter jobs, writes SiliconANGLE. The question is whether the speed at which this happens outweighs the pace at which new roles are emerging. One thing is certain: tomorrow’s job market will look fundamentally different.
