Stoïk expands line of defense with two new services for comprehensive risk management

Stoïk launches two new cybersecurity services on the Belgian market: Managed Email Security and Managed Detection & Response. With this expansion, the company aims to offer comprehensive risk management that combines prevention, detection, and insurance.

The Belgian market is gaining two new cybersecurity services: Managed Email Security and Managed Detection & Response (MDR). Stoïk, which recently acquired Antwerp-based CyberContract, aims to offer “360-degree risk management” with these services, according to Stef Vermeulen, Country Manager at Stoïk Belgium.

“Both solutions have already proven their worth and are active in France, Germany, and Spain, and are now coming to Belgium. They are also based on insights from our own claims data, which we manage entirely in-house,” says Vermeulen.

With these new services, we want to offer 360-degree risk management by keeping incidents out and strengthening the line of defense, while also weaving insurance into the mix.

Email remains the weak link

According to the Stoïk Claims Report 2025, the number of cyber claims rose by 150 percent. Ransomware attacks had 60 percent more impact than the previous year. Emails remain the primary gateway: nearly 60 percent of incidents begin with phishing, fraud, or Business Email Compromise (BEC). Notably, ten percent of companies fall victim to a similar attack again within a year.

The increase in incidents exposes the vulnerability of companies, especially via email. According to Stoïk, most attacks are financially motivated and target fake invoices, CEO fraud, and unusual payment requests.

“In CEO fraud, employees are tricked into paying an invoice. This way, fraud occurs without any actual break-in,” says Vermeulen.

Managed Email Security

To protect Belgian companies against email fraud, Stoïk is launching Managed Email Security. The system scans all incoming messages for suspicious signals, such as altered bank details. Through the use of AI and machine learning, fraud attempts are quickly identified. Suspicious messages are further checked by the internal SOC team, which remains alert 24/7.

The implementation of Managed Email Security takes place via a direct API connection with Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace, without the need for extra plugins. This limits the impact on daily operations and ensures a fast rollout. Companies do not just receive warnings, but also get direct follow-up and support during incidents.

Insured

Furthermore, Stoïk links the Managed Email Security service to insurance. “A classic cyber insurance policy almost never covers external fraud where no break-in occurs,” Vermeulen explains. “In those cases, verification conditions are set, such as checking a changed account number.”

Should anything still slip through the cracks, the insured party is still covered.

“If a customer takes the Managed Email Security solution, those verification conditions are waived and the sub-limit of that specific insurance coverage increases fourfold,” he states. “By taking the Email Security solution, which was developed in-house, customers are fully covered,” says Vermeulen.

Managed Detection & Response

The MDR service (Managed Detection & Response) focuses on detecting and neutralizing threats on endpoints such as laptops and servers. Through a combination of Endpoint Detection Response (EDR) and continuous monitoring by experts, suspicious activities are addressed immediately.

Since the international launch in July 2024, 4,000 incidents have already been prevented, 2,200 of which were in 2025. Not a single MDR customer was affected by ransomware.

Regulation

Stoïk’s approach combines insurance, active risk prevention, and incident response into one integrated model. According to Vermeulen, this model meets the stricter requirements of NIS2 and the growing expectations of Belgian companies. “All relevant data comes together in a single dashboard, so companies no longer have to consult different sources and log files themselves. That makes reporting a lot easier,” he says.

With more than 12,000 protected companies and a growing team in seven countries, Stoïk aims to strengthen cyber resilience in Europe.
