Sony launches the WF-1000XM6, the manufacturer’s latest wireless earbuds. The focus is on improved noise cancellation and sound quality.
With the WF-1000XM6, Sony launches its latest generation of wireless earbuds. This model succeeds the WF-1000XM5 and, according to the company, offers 25% better noise cancellation.
Improved noise cancellation
This is made possible by the updated internal chip and four microphones per earbud—one more than the previous model. The earbuds combine this hardware with what Sony calls an Adaptive Noise Cancelling Optimiser. This technology analyzes ambient noise and fit in real time, adjusting the noise cancellation as needed.
According to Sony, the WF-1000XM6 is particularly effective at suppressing noise in the mid- and high-frequency ranges. These are frequencies commonly found in offices, cafes, or during commutes.
In terms of audio, the model supports 32-bit processing via the Integrated Processor V2. The DAC amplifier is powered by the QN3e processor. Sony also developed a new driver unit with a custom diaphragm that combines different materials, designed to reduce distortion and reproduce both low and high tones more accurately.

The WF-1000XM6 supports Hi-Res Audio Wireless, DSEE Extreme, 360 Reality Audio, and a customizable equalizer via the Sony | Sound Connect app. The earbuds come with four sizes of isolating eartips to improve the seal.
AI-powered microphone
For calls, the WF-1000XM6 uses two microphones per side, a bone conduction sensor, and beamforming, which Sony says is “AI-based.” This combination is designed to isolate voices from ambient noise. The Bluetooth connection features a larger antenna and updated algorithms for better stability. The device is also LE Audio-ready.
The battery lasts up to eight hours on a single charge and up to 24 hours with the charging case. Qi wireless charging is supported. Sony states that approximately 25% of the plastic components are made from circular materials. The packaging is plastic-free.
The WF-1000XM6 is available starting this month in black and silver for a suggested retail price of 300 euros.
