Collaboration tool Slack is not accessible to some users. None of the important features are working quite as they should.
Slack is experiencing problems. The popular collaboration tool is not working for users worldwide. Logging in is difficult, as are sending messages or files. Links and notifications are also struggling. Slack refers to the problems as incidents rather than major breakdowns. The company emphasizes that the problems do not affect all users. Slack is aware of the problem but has not yet found the cause.
The outage began around 3 p.m. and affected users around the world. Employees from the US across India, the UK and Germany reported that the service was unreachable for them. On downdetector, however, reports of the outage have since declined slightly.
Reliable Teams competitor
Slack is a generally quite reliable service that has had no downtime in recent months. There were some connectivity issues late last year, though. Those were fixed very quickly each time.
The service has been a part of Salesforce since 2020. The chat client unleashed a revolution in business communication and collaboration, but has been under fire from Microsoft for several years. That preys on the same users with Teams. Teams also occasionally struggles with problems, although a major outage has been a while ago.
The problem is still ongoing at the time of this writing. We will update this article when there is more news. Follow the live status live here.
Update 23/02 6am: Slack is available to everyone again. The problem was mitigated around 10/02 9pm. Since then, all users have been able to log in again. Along with the fix, a problem was detected with sending messages. That problem was fixed at 23/02 2h. With this, all problems have been resolved.
