Oppo releases the A5 5G smartphone in Belgium. The device aims for durability with its shock resistance, long battery life, and sturdy housing.
After a start in the mid-range, Oppo is now targeting the lowest price range. The smartphone manufacturer announces the A5 5G. With a price tag of 199 euros, Oppo targets users looking for basic functionality at an affordable price. The device aims to distinguish itself in this price range through its robust housing. Previously, Oppo launched an A5 Pro model for 279 euros.
Sturdy Armor
Budget phones are typically not associated with durable build quality. Oppo wants to change that with the A5 5G. The device is IP65 certified for water and dust resistance and can also withstand significant shaking. According to Oppo, the screen is up to 160 percent more resistant to shocks than standard glass.

Internal components are further protected by seals, foam tape, and adhesive, while the screen is made of double-tempered glass. The SIM card and USB-C ports are sealed with silicone and water-resistant materials. According to Oppo, the device meets military standards for drop and shock resistance and can be used in challenging environments.
Long Battery Life
The Oppo A5 5G is equipped with a 6,000 mAh battery. According to the manufacturer, this provides up to 22 hours of voice calls or more than 500 hours of standby time. The battery retains 80 percent of its capacity after 1,700 charging cycles and should last up to five years.
With a SuperVooc charger (45 W), the device charges up to 30 percent in 21 minutes and up to 100 percent in 84 minutes. The battery technology is based on a design that reduces internal resistance and limits heat generation. Oppo has a habit of restricting charging capacity when you’re not using a branded charger.
Don’t expect computational wonders from a budget phone like the Oppo A5 5G. The MediaTek Dimensity 6300 platform is complemented by 4 GB RAM and 128 GB storage. The RAM is expandable via a software function. The device runs on ColorOS 15 and comes with Google Gemini. The phone is further equipped with a 50 MP main camera, a rather superfluous 2 MP depth sensor, and an 8 MP front camera.
The Oppo A5 5G is available today in green for 199 euros incl. VAT.
