New Dell UltraSharp Monitor has 4K webcam on board

Dell is launching a new UltraSharp monitor. The screen excels thanks to its high resolution, not only for the display but also for the webcam.

Dell is introducing the Dell UltraSharp 32 4K Video Conferencing Monitor at CES 2022. That’s a modern-looking screen with a hefty web cam at the top center. With good reason: the screen’s embedded camera has 4K resolution. Furthermore, Dell provides smart features like auto brightness and auto-framing. The webcam sees up to 90 degrees but you can limit the field of view to 78 or 65 degrees.

The thing is Microsoft Teams-certified and comes with a privacy switch. That automatically closes when not in use. For video calls, you no longer need additional hardware, as the monitor also includes 14-watt speakers and microphones. The webcam is further compatible with Windows Hello.

Screen specifications

The screen itself measures 31.5 inches and has 4K resolution on an IPS panel. It supports the DisplayHDR400 standard and should cover 89 percent of the DCI-P3 color gamut. The new IPS Black technology provides a contrast ratio of 2,000:1, which is about double that of a regular IPS display.

The monitor doubles as a dock via the USB-C cable that can provide 90 watts of power. A second port provides 15 watts for peripherals. Furthermore, it has five USB-A ports on board, along with DisplayPort 1.4 and HDMI 2.0. The display would be available internationally starting March 29, for a heretofore unknown suggested retail price.
