Logitech is expanding its partnership with iFixit to the European Union. Users can purchase spare parts to repair their Logitech devices themselves.
Logitech has long been working with iFixit to improve the availability of spare parts and repair manuals. Today, Logitech is announcing a global expansion of the partnership, including to the EU. This will make it possible to find spare parts and manuals to repair Logitech’s mice, keyboards and headphones by yourself.
“Our products are designed to last, but normal wear and tear is inevitable. That’s why we strive to make it easier for people to access original parts for their devices. Repairability further extends the lifespan. We encourage people to make simple repairs to save money and produce less waste,” said Prakash Arunkundrum, COO of Logitech.
Do it yourself
Logitech sells the spare parts through iFixit, which sets up a Logitech Repair Hub on its Web site. Parts are available for about 20 products, ranging from mice to keyboards and headphones. The parts available through iFixit come directly from Logitech, so you can assume they are compatible with the devices.

Self-repairs do require a steady hand and some knowledge of the products. iFixit offers manuals for simple repairs, which are available in several languages, including English, French, Spanish, German and Dutch. If a self-repair is too difficult, it is wiser to go to authorized repair point.
Right to repair
The right to repair has been in place in the European Union since last year. The legislation requires manufacturers of electronic equipment to support self-repairs. In addition to offering parts and manuals, the design of devices must also make it easy to make repairs. Manufacturers are also required to offer repairs beyond the legal warranty period.
Logitech cites several studies in the press release that show there is high demand among consumers for self-repairs. The majority indicate that they prefer repair to replacement. The cost of repair is the deciding factor.
