Lenovo Refreshes ThinkStation Desktop Line with Four New Models

Lenovo updates its ThinkStation desktops with four models that cater to diverse professional needs, from compact formats to expandable systems.

Lenovo introduces four renewed ThinkStation desktops: the P2 Tower Gen 2, P3 Tower Gen 2, P3 Ultra SFF Gen 2, and P3 Tiny Gen 2. The workstations are built for both professionals and students who need powerful performance in various formats.

Classic Tower

The ThinkStation P3 Tower Gen 2 (image at the top) is a classic desktop computer. The system supports up to an Intel Core Ultra 9 processor of the second generation. Later this year, support for the Nvidia RTX Pro 6000 Blackwell Max-Q Workstation Edition GPU will follow.

This workstation offers up to 3,500 TOPS of AI computing power, more DDR5 memory capacity, RAID options, and extensive storage possibilities. The P3 Tower is primarily intended for designers, engineers, and students with demanding workflows.

Compact and more Compact

The ThinkStation P3 Ultra SFF Gen 2 is considerably smaller. In this compact device, Lenovo aims to combine performance with a chassis of less than four liters. In addition to the same processor support, this device has room for an Nvidia RTX 4000 SFF Ada Generation GPU.

The device offers space for up to 128 GB DDR5 memory at 6400 MT/s, PCIe Gen 5, and multiple M.2 slots. The Ultra SFF supports the ThinkStation BMC module for remote management and is intended for hybrid work environments and edge computing, where the compact form can be an advantage.

The ThinkStation P3 Tiny Gen 2 is even smaller with its volume of just one liter. With this, Lenovo targets situations where space is limited, but a laptop is not preferred.

The system accommodates an Nvidia RTX A1000 graphics card and supports up to six displays. It further supports Thunderbolt 4, WiFi 7, up to 128 GB DDR5 memory, and multiple M.2 slots. According to Lenovo, the device is relevant for users in architecture, engineering, education, and healthcare.

Entry-Level Model

The ThinkStation P2 Tower Gen 2 is finally a compact seventeen-liter tower aimed at users seeking reliable performance at a lower price. The device also supports Intel Core Ultra 9 processors and cards from the Nvidia Ada Generation series. Thanks to support for PCIe Gen 5, DDR5 memory up to 5600 MT/s, and expandable storage, the system is suitable for entry-level CAD, product design, and AI tasks. The chassis has been tested to military standards.
