Kingston Introduces more Compact NV3 PCIe 4.0 NVMe SSD in M.2 2230 Form Factor

Kingston launches the NV3 PCIe 4.0 NVMe SSD in M.2 2230 form factor, with speeds up to 6,000 MB/s and capacities up to 2 TB.

Kingston expands its NV3 PCIe 4.0 NVMe SSD line with a smaller M.2 2230 form factor, intended for laptops, among other devices.

The new NV3 PCIe 4.0 NVMe SSD joins the existing M.2 2280 variant. The M.2 2230 form factor measures 22 by 30 millimeters and features a single-sided design.

According to Kingston, the new iteration primarily targets users seeking additional storage for thin laptops and handheld consoles. The SSD utilizes a Gen 4×4 NVMe controller.

Speed

The SSD is available with storage capacities from 500 GB to 2 TB and supports read speeds up to 6,000 MB/s and write speeds up to 5,000 MB/s.

The stated performance varies slightly by capacity. The 500 GB model achieves a maximum of 5,000 MB/s read and 3,000 MB/s write. For the 1 TB version, this increases to 6,000 MB/s read and 4,000 MB/s write. The 2 TB model offers the highest write speed at 5,000 MB/s.

Software

Kingston ships the NV3 2230 with one year of free Acronis True Image software for data migration. It also includes the Kingston SSD Manager, allowing users to monitor the drive, update firmware, and securely erase data. The SSD is designed for desktop and laptop use, not for servers.

Endurance varies by model. The 2 TB version has an estimated endurance of 640 TB written data and a Mean Time Between Failures (MTBF) of two million hours. Kingston provides a five-year limited warranty with technical support.
