Hybrid Meetings Don’t Always Run Smoothly

hybrid meetings

Four out of ten IT professionals indicate in a survey by ITdaily that hybrid meetings proceed without problems. Equipment and engagement are the main obstacles.

Hybrid meetings are commonplace in many companies today, but they don’t always run smoothly. That’s not just according to experts from the IT industry. ITdaily surveyed its readers about their experiences with hybrid meetings. 104 respondents participated in the survey.

For four out of ten, hybrid meetings proceed without problems. On the other hand, physical meetings are regaining dominance in many companies. 28 percent of respondents indicate that meetings are conducted entirely in person.

Equipment and Engagement

Two obstacles emerge that can derail hybrid meetings. Fourteen percent indicate that there is insufficient dedicated equipment or spaces available in the office to facilitate hybrid meetings. The right equipment is at least as important in the office as it is at home.

Another fourteen percent point to lower engagement by employees during hybrid meetings. Various studies have already highlighted this issue. Primarily employees who join hybrid meetings from home become “passive observers” or feel they are not sufficiently seen or heard.

Only four percent see software as the biggest obstacle. Hybrid meetings won’t disappear anytime soon. Employers need to focus on both the right equipment and creating a meeting environment where every employee feels engaged.
