Renewed Hardware and Design

The new Pixel 10 devices feature a refreshed design with a refined camera bar and are made with more recycled materials than previous models. They support Qi2 wireless charging via the new Pixelsnap accessories. The standard Pixel 10 has a 6.3-inch Actua display with a peak brightness of 3,000 nits and four color options: Obsidian, Frost, Indigo, and Lemongrass. Google also promises an improved audio experience.

On paper, the Pixel 10 doesn’t differ much from the Pixel 10 Pro. The Pixel 10 Pro also features a 6.3-inch Actua display and a 20:9 aspect ratio. The peak brightness on the Pro reaches up to 3300 nits, and it weighs three grams more than the entry model. The biggest difference appears to be in the cameras. The entry model has a 5x telephoto lens with 10x optical quality and up to 20x zoom via Super Res Zoom. The Pixel 10 Pro and 10 Pro XL (6.3 and 6.8 inch) are equipped with Super Actua screens, a triple camera setup, and Pro Res Zoom, which supports up to 100x zoom.

Both Pro models have larger batteries, faster charging capabilities, and come with 16 GB of RAM. The XL model also supports 25W Qi2.2 wireless charging. The Pixel phones are built to last and even get better over time thanks to seven years of OS updates, Pixel Drops, and security updates.

AI Integration with Gemini Nano and Magic Cue

The devices run on the new Tensor G5 chip, developed in collaboration with Google DeepMind. This chip uses Gemini Nano locally, an AI model that enables built-in smart features.

One of these features is Magic Cue. This AI assistant offers contextual help in apps like Google Messages or the Phone app, for example by automatically displaying flight information during a phone call with an airline. Everything happens locally on the device and with explicit user permission.

Another AI feature is Camera Coach, designed for beginner photographers. It provides real-time tips on framing and composition. With Auto Best Take, an ‘ultimate group photo’ is automatically compiled from a series of the same photos, ensuring everyone looks their best. Pro Res Zoom on the Pro models uses AI to reconstruct details at high zoom levels.
