Getac Introduces Robust B360 G3 and B360 Pro G3 Laptops

Getac launches the third generation of its fully rugged laptops B360 and B360 Pro. The devices are equipped with new processors from the Intel Core Ultra Series 2 range. The devices are aimed at sectors such as utilities and defense, and are configurable for various professional applications.

Getac launches two new sturdy laptops tailored for professionals: the B360 G3 and the B360 Pro G3. Both 13.3-inch devices are equipped with CPUs from Intel’s latest Core Ultra 2 range and are configurable with up to a Core Ultra 7 265H. They come standard with 16 GB RAM, though memory can be expanded to 64 GB.

Getac points to the AI capabilities of the devices, but these are no more or less relevant than those of all other devices with a modern chip. Intel puts an NPU in all its chips, and if you use certain functionality that relies on it, it can have an advantage in terms of processing time and battery efficiency.

‘Quadro for Enhanced Images’

If you want to run AI workloads, you’re best off choosing the Getac B360 Pro. This device distinguishes itself from the regular B360 thanks to the (optional) built-in Nvidia RTX A500. Getac itself doesn’t seem to know exactly which GPU it is and refers to the chip as an Nvidia Quadro RTX A500, even though the Quadro brand name has been discontinued for years.

In the announcement of the laptops, we also read that the GPU provides ‘enhanced images’, which really makes us scratch our heads. The RTX A500 is, in any case, an older GPU, launched in 2021 and built on the Ampere architecture. The computing power of the chip should be sufficient to support graphical workloads and accelerate AI tasks.

Very Robust

Robustness is the main goal of the Getac B360 and B360 Pro. Both devices are MIL-STD-810H and MIL-STD-461G certified. Getac explicitly mentions drop resistance from 1.8 meters, and resistance to vibrations. The IP66 rating ensures that you can use the laptops outdoors in challenging weather conditions. Other certifications such as ANSI/UL 121201, CSA C22.2 NO. 213 (Class I, Division 2, Groups A, B, C, D) xix and resistance to salt spray are optional. You can use the laptops at temperatures from -29°C to 63°C.

The B360 is built for field workers in sectors such as utilities, where GIS, mapping, and survey applications are important. An optional GPS module and accompanying software package make the device suitable for use in remote areas. The B360 Pro is intended for defense environments.

This variant offers dual batteries as standard. The laptop can be expanded with additional storage, optical drives, and secure docking stations for use in vehicles. Multiple authentication options are also available, such as a smart card reader and fingerprint scanner.

Availability

Both the B360 and the B360 Pro are available in sector-specific configurations and can be further customized with specific hardware, software, and service options. This allows organizations to tailor the devices to their specific work processes, even for smaller orders. The laptops are available from this month and come standard with a three-year warranty. Getac does not share recommended prices, but think in the order of 4,600 euros excluding VAT for a Getac B360 with Core Ultra 5, based on prices of previous generations.

The launch of these devices follows an earlier introduction of a rugged Android tablet: the ZX10.
