Framework expands the fully modular 16-inch laptop with extra space for an Nvidia or AMD graphics card.
Framework introduced its modular and repairable 16-inch laptop last year. At that time, it only had space for AMD’s Radeon graphics cards combined with a Ryzen processor. Now the option for Nvidia is being added.
Combining Nvidia with New Ryzen CPUs
The announcement states that they have developed an Nvidia-powered graphics module for the GeForce RTX 5070 Laptop graphics card. This module has 8 GB of GDDR7 memory and a Blackwell core with adjustable clock speed up to 2.0 GHz. Finally, the laptop gets a new USB-C port that processes video signals and charges your device.
Additionally, support has been added for the new Ryzen AI 300 CPUs, such as the AI 7 350 or 9 HX 370 with 12 cores. Up to 96 GB of DDR5 RAM can be added across two slots, and there are also two M.2 SSD slots for up to 10 TB.
The new Laptop 16 and components are available for pre-order now and will ship in November. The cheapest configuration of the AI 300 series without additional options costs €2,029. The version with the 7040 cards starts at €1,799. You can configure the Framework Laptop 16 via their website. People who already own a Laptop 16 can purchase the new components at a lower price.
