Chrome OS contains a bug that causes the right speaker to make a crackling sound. The problem does not occur with every Chromebook user.
Some Chrome OS users are experiencing problems with their Chromebook’s right speaker. According to the users, a crackling sound is coming from the right speaker during various activities that require audio, such as watching a video or conferencing online. As the problem persisted, they reported it to Google.
Software problem
Initially, it was thought that the hardware was causing the problem. In some Acer Spin 713 models, the manufacturer replaced the speakers free of charge, but that did not solve the problem.
In addition to Acer models, Chromebooks from Asus and Lenovo experienced the same problem. Therefore, it seems to be a problem located in the Chrome OS audio driver. Google thinks it has found the cause of the crackling sound, but is still testing the solution for now.
For a long time, Chrome OS was that run exclusively on a Chromebook. Recently, Google’s operating system has also become runable on other laptops and desktop PCs. To this end, Google released Chrome OS Flex, a new version of Chrome OS that focuses on enterprises and schools.
