Asana introduces ‘AI Teammates’ for your organization. These artificial team members assist in distributing and following up on tasks, and can even take tasks off your hands.
Organizations using Asana to coordinate their workflow will soon get new colleagues. Asana announced the new ‘AI Teammates’ last year, and a year later the feature appears in public preview. Asana wants to demonstrate that collaboration between AI and humans is the future of increasing productivity, says CEO Dustin Moskovitz.
The AI Teammates are born from the Asana Work Graph, the company’s central data model that captures relationships and context between teams and workflows in an organization. By drawing from all this data, an AI teammate can get a holistic view of what an employee or team needs, according to the company.
Advice and Action
Your new artificial colleagues will take on both an advisory and active role within the organization. The AI helps you set priorities and alerts you about potential risks to achieving objectives. The AI Teammates also analyze workflows within your teams and provide suggestions and resources to improve them.

Additionally, the AI can actively assign tasks to you and your team members or even take tasks off your hands. Whether your AI teammate will also scold you for repeatedly postponing task deadlines remains to be seen. Asana is also adding a chat interface to proactively seek advice. Finally, AI teammates can be trained to take on specific roles within the team.
Asana is making AI Teammates available in beta to a limited number of business customers. The company has not yet specified when the feature will roll out more broadly.
