At an Apple event in March, a new iPhone SE would be announced alongside a refreshed iPad Air. New Mac devices are also expected later in the same month.
According to Bloomberg reporter Mark Gurman, a reliable contact for Apple rumors, we may schedule a new Apple event on March 8. At the show, a refresh of the current iPhone SE is expected with 5G compatibility and a new Apple A15 chip. Other things like the small 4.7-inch screen, hefty screen bezels at the top and bottom and the fingerprint sensor remain.
The current iPhone SE dates back to 2020 and starts today from 489 euros including VAT. The launch of the updated iPhone SE will also see the release of iOS 14.4 coupled with the long-awaited facial recognition with mouth mask.
According to Gurman, in addition to a new iPhone SE, the current iPad Air will also be refreshed with the latest processor and 5G connectivity.
New Mac devices
A new Mac with an Apple M1 chip variant is also expected later in March during another announcement. Gurman goes on to talk about new iMac and Mac Pro desktops and a redesign of the MacBook Air later this year. Finally, he says a new low-end MacBook Pro is also coming in 2022.
Late last year, Apple gave the MacBook Pro a thorough redesign with a miniled screen (with notch) and powerful new Apple M1 chips. However, that redesign only applies to the 14-inch and 16-inch variants. The smallest 13-inch model remained unchanged and can be purchased from 1,449 euros including VAT, 800 euros less than the redesigned 14-inch entry-level model. Wait and see what Apple has in store for the smallest brother of the MacBook Pro series this year.
