Anker Recalls Batteries Due to Fire Hazard

Anker is recalling various portable batteries due to potential battery cell issues that could lead to overheating.

Battery specialist Anker is launching a recall campaign for various power banks. After analysis, it appears that some lithium-ion battery cells may be defective. Although no problems have been reported yet, the manufacturer is taking precautionary measures and asking users to dispose of the batteries. This is not the first time Anker has initiated such a recall.

The following products are part of the recall:

– Anker Power Bank (10K, 22.5W) – Model A1257
– Anker Power Bank (20,000 mAh, 22.5W, USB-C cable) – Model A1647
– Anker MagGo Power Bank (10,000 mAh, 7.5W) – Model A1652
– Anker Zolo Power Bank (20K, 30W, USB-C and Lightning cable) – Model A1681
– Anker Zolo Power Bank (20K, 30W, USB-C cable) — Model A1689

Stop Using Immediately

If you own one of these devices, you must stop using it immediately. Anker has posted a claim form online where you can request a refund. The manufacturer asks you to keep the power bank until the claim is verified using the serial number, so you can be sure it’s an affected battery.

Then dispose of the battery safely at a battery collection point suitable for this purpose. Despite the small risk, continued use is not advisable. These batteries are also no longer allowed on airplanes.
