Microsoft is ending the Windows Maps app from July 2025. Users can switch to alternatives such as Maps via Bing.
The Windows Maps app will be removed from the Microsoft Store from July 2025, Microsoft announces. The app will no longer be supported or usable from then on. The company refers to an alternative, namely Maps via the Bing service.

If you remove the app before July 2025, you can still download it again from the Microsoft Store until the end date. After July 2025, the app will no longer be available for installation. In the same month, Microsoft will roll out an update that discontinues the use of Maps. Personal data, such as guided navigation or URLs to maps, will not be deleted. However, you will no longer be able to use them in the application after July 2025.

Microsoft refers to the Bing-powered service for using Maps. The Windows app is no longer pre-installed with Windows from the release of Windows 11, version 24H2. Moreover, Microsoft has already discontinued the ability to download offline maps in the app.
