Smartdoxx is launching a platform that automatically generates and keeps software documentation up-to-date based on the code. The startup focuses on companies with internal development teams and development agencies.
Ghent-based startup Smartdoxx has launched an AI-driven solution that automatically creates and updates software documentation. The company aims to address a recurring problem in development teams: documentation that takes a lot of time to write and quickly becomes outdated, putting knowledge sharing and collaboration under pressure.
The company is launching three different plans for businesses: Starter, Pro, and Business. The prices are €300, €400, and €500 per month/per project, respectively.
Documentation often lags behind
In many organizations, documentation is mainly updated when there is time. This ensures that information about architecture, processes and dependencies is not in sync with the code. When documentation is missing or outdated, onboarding can take longer and a dependence on individual experts arises more quickly. Errors and delays also increase because teams have less to hold on to when making changes or dealing with incidents.

“After more than twenty years as a developer and team lead, I have seen how manual documentation repeatedly undermines the speed and focus of teams. With Smartdoxx, we use AI as an assistant that automatically derives documentation from the code and keeps it up to date, so that developers can concentrate on building instead of keeping track,” says co-founder Christophe Ketels.
Internal teams and agencies
Smartdoxx is focusing the platform on companies that develop software internally, and on development agencies that work for multiple clients. By having documentation updated automatically, the startup wants to help teams work more efficiently and be less dependent on implicit knowledge among a few employees.
