OpenAI makes its canvas editing tool available to all, and adds some improvements.
OpenAI has been busy with new announcements lately. Sora was only just made public, and already another launch follows. Now the ChatGPT maker is making its editing tool canvas publicly available. Back in October, this tool appeared in beta version for ChatGPT Plus and Team users, as well as Enterprise and Edu users. Now all ChatGPT users will be able to use this editing tool for creative projects and coding.
Canvas for all
OpenAI’s canvas editing tool is out of beta. This new interface for ChatGPT, built with GPT-4o, focuses on creative projects and coding. It adds an additional virtual space next to the ChatGPT window where users can easily run edits on their project, as well as easily retrieve previous versions.

Now it is additionally possible to get edits in the form of comments. Users can then make changes based on ChatGPT’s suggestions. Programming improvements have also been made. When you paste a code into ChatGPT, it will immediately recognize it as code and automatically switch to code editor mode. Then the bot helps find errors. Canvas is further available for custom GPTs.
Pack month
This yet another announcement from OpenAI belongs to its shipmas period, during which the company hands out surprises for 12 days. Thus, the o1 model was already made available and a new Pro subscription appeared for $200. But the video tool Sora was also under the Christmas tree. The next package is the availability of the editing tool canvas.
