From image to video: Midjourney launches first AI video model V1

Midjourney V1

Midjourney launches a new AI video model that can generate videos up to 21 seconds based on an image.

The American company Midjourney was initially founded with a focus on developing AI image generators. Although the company is known for its image generation, it is now venturing into a new direction with video creation. The V1 model is said to be capable of generating videos up to 21 seconds based on an image. The model costs ten dollars per month and is currently only available through the web version.

Midjourney is already known for its AI image generator, which allows free users to generate up to 25 images. The company offers a gallery feature where you can view all your AI-generated images in one place. From now on, an additional button will be added under these images “Animate”, which allows the images to be animated using V1.

The new V1 model can generate a five-second video based on your own images. The model then creates four AI-generated video “s from which you can choose. These video” s can be extended up to four times with four seconds, allowing you to generate a video of maximum 21 seconds.

Moreover, there is an “automatic” animation setting that suggests a motion prompt for you and “makes the image move”. Furthermore, you can choose the “high motion” and “low motion” options. With high motion, almost all elements in the image will move, which may lead to unstable errors. Low motion is more about environmental scenes where the camera largely remains stationary.

The video model costs ten dollars per month and is currently only available in the web version. Midjourney is not the first company to introduce a video generator model. OpenAI and Google have already preceded them with Sora and Veo.
