Microsoft Teams will soon give presenters the ability to open chat windows during a meeting without sharing them.
Microsoft Teams is working on a feature that makes it easier to send chat messages while in a meeting as a presenter. This way, you can still view a chat when sharing a window or screen. The company announces that the feature is expected to be rolled out to all users in May.
Chat Window Without Sharing
“We are adding a control to the meeting presenter’s toolbar, so presenters can more easily access the meeting chat while sharing a window or screen,” said Microsoft in its message center. The presenter will be able to open chat messages during a meeting via the chat icon in the toolbar. This compact view of the chat is only visible to the presenter.

The feature is expected to be rolled out to all users in May. The feature is set by default and implementation will take place automatically. Users do not need to take any actions for this. Both Windows and Mac users will have access to this feature.
