Microsoft resolved the outage in Copilot for European users

microsoft copilot

Until last week, European users could no longer use both the web version and Copilot in Microsoft 365.

Last week, Microsoft investigated an issue that denied European users access to Copilot. Users encountered error messages such as “Sorry, I wasn’t able to respond to that”, or were unable to use all features even if Copilot opened. The issues affected both copilot.cloud.microsoft and m365.cloud.microsoft, as well as the Copilot button in Edge and Copilot for Microsoft 365 apps.

Now resolved

According to Microsoft, the outage was caused by an unexpected spike in traffic, which disrupted the automatic capacity expansion. The company manually scaled up to improve availability. It later turned out that a load-balancing error also contributed to the outage. Additionally, Microsoft resolved an issue that blocked some features in the Defender XDR portal for all users, although the tech giant has not yet disclosed exactly how many users were affected.

Microsoft stated on its X account that it adjusted the load-balancing rules for internet traffic and eventually reversed a recent policy change. According to the latest update from Microsoft, the outage has been completely resolved.
