Microsoft has redesigned its icons for Microsoft 365 apps. The icons are now more colorful and more rounded.
Microsoft introduces refreshed icons for its Microsoft 365 apps. The icons are much more colorful and have a rounder shape. According to the company, these subtle visual tweaks reflect a broader shift in how it approaches product development and collaboration, driven by AI and the role of Copilot across the ecosystem.
Subtle Changes
The Microsoft 365 icons are getting a new look, with simplicity, fluid shapes, and bolder colors front and center. The update applies to the ten core Office apps, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams.

The new icons have been graphically simplified. The number of elements has been reduced to improve recognizability and legibility, especially at smaller sizes. For example, the Word icon has been reduced from four to three horizontal bars. At the same time, the shapes are more fluid, with rounded lines instead of sharp corners. The use of color is also more intense.
The last time Microsoft gave its icons a new look was in 2018. The new designs are being rolled out to users immediately.
