Microsoft enables remote locking of your PC using an Android phone.

Microsoft is rolling out a new update to the Link to Windows app for Windows Insiders. The app will serve as a central hub for interaction between Android devices and Windows PCs. This update allows Android users to remotely control their Windows PC from their device, check recent activities, and view the battery status or Wi-Fi connection of their PC.

With the new update, Microsoft transforms the Link to Windows app into a central hub for interaction between Android devices and Windows PCs. The app now provides an overview of recent activities such as shared files or clipboard items.

Users can also view the battery status and Wi-Fi connection of their PC via their smartphone. Additionally, it is now possible to send files to the PC, lock the PC screen remotely, or mirror the phone screen to the computer.

The revamped app also introduces a simpler onboarding process. Users can now complete the installation entirely via their Android device, without needing to use their PC first. The installation includes clear instructions and contextual permission prompts that simplify the pairing procedure.

The update is being rolled out in phases, meaning not all Windows Insiders will see the new features immediately. Those who want to try out the updates need a recent Windows Insider Preview build and Phone Link version 1.25062.83.0 or higher. Additionally, Link to Windows version 1.25071.155 or higher is required on the Android device.
