Available for Everyone After All

Google’s latest reasoning model, Gemini 2.5 Pro, is now freely available to everyone after all. This announcement on X comes unexpectedly after Google announced the model barely a week ago. Initially, the experimental version of the model was only available in Google AI Studio and via the Gemini app for Gemini Advanced subscribers (21.99 euros per month).

According to Google, the model excels in building visual web apps and supporting agential coding scenarios. Gemini 2.5 Pro performs almost as well as other models on some benchmarks. For example, it scores 63.8 percent in a test on agential AI, which falls just below Antropic’s Claude 3.7 Sonnet (70.3%).

Google now announces that it is opening up the experimental version to everyone using Gemini. According to the company, the aim is “to get our most intelligent model into the hands of more people as quickly as possible”.
