From now on, it is easier for iOS users to switch between their business and personal accounts.
Google announces in a blog post a feature that allows iOS users to easily switch between their business and personal Google accounts in Chrome.
Separate Accounts
Previously, users had to completely log out of their Google account and then log back in with another account. From now on, the accounts and data are completely separated. Tabs, browsing history, and saved passwords remain within the domain of the active account. This makes it easier for employees to securely access sensitive company files on their own device, without the risk of data leaks or confusion between accounts.
“The first time users log in or switch to a managed account, they will see information about data separation and how their data is used by the company,” writes Google in the blog post. “The next time they switch to their managed account, Chrome will ask for confirmation.”
According to Google, the update responds to the trend where companies are less likely to purchase separate work phones, and employees more often use their personal smartphone or laptop for work. IT departments can choose how browsing data is stored and whether to apply advanced security features.
Extended Reporting
Chrome Enterprise reporting is being extended to Android and iOS. Companies can forward critical security data to the Google Admin Console. Through URL filtering, websites can be made inaccessible. Certain GenAI tools can, for example, be blocked, after which users are redirected to one that is allowed.
The features are available in Chrome for iOS starting today.
