Google Chrome: 17 vulnerabilities fixed by crucial update

The latest update to Google Chrome fixes 17 security problems. Until now, these had not been used in attacks.

The new Google Chrome version 130.0.6723.58/59 for Windows and macOS, 130.0.6723.58 for Linux, has a lot fewer security problems. The update does away with 17 vulnerabilities, which Google says had not yet been exploited for attacks, PCWorld knows. So update quickly is the message.

Version 130: what does it mean?

As always, Google does not communicate in their Google Blog what those vulnerabilities specifically mean. They only share that one is categorized as high risk, and the rest as medium or low risk.

A new feature in Chrome 130 is the password manager, which allows you to use passwords on all devices and smartphones. The integrated security control comes with new features. The browser now also features real-time AI protection against phishing and malware. For that, you need to check the “Advanced Secure Browsing” option in the settings.

Manufacturers of other Chromium-based browsers are now being urged to make the update as soon as possible. Those are Brave, Microsoft Edge, Opera One and Vivaldi. At the time of writing, no browser has received that update. They are currently still at last week’s security level.
