For the first time since acquiring Affinity, Canva is introducing a reworked design platform for photo editing, vector illustration, and page layouts. The platform is free for everyone.

Last year, Canva acquired Affinity to strengthen its competitive position against Adobe. Now, Canva is re-releasing the Affinity creative suite as an all-in-one app for photo editing, vector illustration, and page layouts. The software is now free for all users, with no limitations or hidden costs.

Integrated Design Environment

For the first time since acquiring design software Affinity, Canva is launching new tools. With the acquisition, Canva suddenly had powerful tools in its hands such as Affinity Designer, Photo and Publisher, which are the counterparts of Illustrator, Photoshop and Indesign respectively.

The new Affinity app combines three professional tools for vector design, photo editing, and layout into one platform. Designers no longer need to switch between different applications. Each feature works in real-time, with support for GPU acceleration and is non-destructive, allowing users to refine designs without losing the original work.

Affinity promises an alternative to expensive and high-performance software packages. Users can work with advanced typography, smart master pages, and batch processing tools. Large files remain editable, and complex projects with thousands of layers are supported.

According to the creators, all functions are available without subscription, without costs and without restrictions.
