Broadcom releases VMware Workstation 25H2 and Fusion 25H2, featuring new versioning, added features, and broader support for recent hardware and operating systems.
Broadcom launches VMware Workstation and Fusion 25H2. The classic versioning scheme is being replaced in favor of Microsoft’s approach. Broadcom is using the year and half-year to label editions, just as Microsoft recently launched Windows 11 25H2.
For clarity, 25H2 refers to the second half of 2025. This approach should make release timing more apparent.
Vmware Workstation and Fusion not only get a new naming scheme but also new features. A notable addition is dictTool, a command-line tool that lets users edit configuration files like .vmx. Support for USB 3.2 has also been added, enabling faster data transfers and better compatibility with modern USB devices. In addition, VMware introduces Hardware Version 22, allowing virtual machines to take advantage of recent hardware capabilities.
Specifically for Workstation, there is now a detection tool that shows whether a VM is running with Hyper-V or WHP (Windows Hypervisor Platform). This should improve transparency around the virtualization mode.
Broader OS and CPU Support
The new release further expands compatibility with operating systems and processors. Workstation now supports new Intel processors such as Lunar Lake, Arrow Lake, and Meteor Lake. Both Workstation and Fusion can handle new guest operating systems like Red Hat Enterprise Linux 10, Fedora Linux 42, Debian 13, and Oracle Linux 10. Fusion also supports macOS Tahoe on Intel systems.
For host systems, Workstation supports, among others, RHEL 10 and Debian 13. Fusion is compatible with macOS Tahoe on both Intel and Apple Silicon.
Bug Fixes
Finally, multiple stability and security improvements have been made. These include bug fixes for UI issues, USB settings, GPU acceleration on Intel chips, and keyboard access. Both platforms also received security and accessibility updates.
Workstation Pro and Fusion Pro 25H2 are available in English, French, Japanese, and Spanish. Broadcom emphasizes that VMware Workstation and Fusion will remain part of the company’s core portfolio. Earlier, Broadcom
