Security company WatchGuard announces TotalMDR: an AI-powered detection and response platform that keeps an eye out 24/7.
WatchGuard Technologies introduces Total MDR: a managed detection and response service for managed service providers (MSPs). The platform is powered by AI, which is also a mandatory addition in the security world. The service combines multiple security layers in one central platform and offers 24/7 protection against cyber threats.
Multiple Security Layers
Total MDR is designed for managed service providers who need to respond quickly to incidents in hybrid IT environments. The service utilizes WatchGuard’s existing products, such as Firebox firewalls, AuthPoint identity management, and various endpoint solutions. Through a centralized portal, MSPs get a complete overview of security incidents, enabling faster and more efficient response.
The detection and response function of Total MDR is partly automatic via AI and is supplemented by human threat hunters in a Security Operations Center that is on standby around the clock. According to WatchGuard, this reduces the response time to an average of six minutes. The industry average, according to the company, is about thirty minutes.
In addition, the solution supports integrations with external platforms such as Microsoft 365, AWS, and Google Workspace. This allows MSPs to also monitor cloud-based threats.
Acquisition of ActZero
The launch of Total MDR follows the acquisition of security company ActZero in January. ActZero’s technology and expertise laid the foundation of the new service. Total MDR is designed to be scalable, supporting both large and medium-sized customers. WatchGuard also plans an open model that allows partners to integrate technology from other vendors as well.
According to WatchGuard, Total MDR can be deployed quickly and does not require complex implementation. MSPs also get access to technical support and standardized procedures. The security provider promises transparent pricing without hidden catches.
With this launch, WatchGuard aims to expand its platform and better respond to the increasing demand for managed security services among MSPs.
