NTT Data partners with Fortanix on a new service that helps companies protect sensitive data in light of the rise of quantum computing.
NTT Data and Fortanix join forces to better prepare companies for what they see as the growing security risks of artificial intelligence and future quantum computers. The collaboration results in the introduction of
Fortanix’s technology, based on confidential computing, forms the core of the service. NTT Data highlights the following capabilities as important:
- Multicloud key management: Fortanix’s unified management of encryption keys across AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, and on-premises environments, integrated with NTT Data’s cloud services;
- Post-quantum era preparation: identifies vulnerable cryptography, develops migration plans, and ensures business continuity during the transition to quantum-safe standards;
- Data sovereignty for governments and public sector: complies with data location regulations through geofencing and secure key storage;
- AI & Machine Learning: processes sensitive data in secure environments (Confidential Computing enclaves) to ensure privacy throughout the entire AI process;
- Hardware Security Module as-a-Service: centralized and secure management of cryptographic keys and digital assets, without having to manage physical hardware;
- Data tokenization & format-preserving encryption: preserving privacy while keeping data usable.
Through central policy control and visibility, the platform also helps comply with regulations.
Quantum-ready
With Cryptography-as-a-Service, NTT Data aims to help organizations develop a concrete plan toward so-called ‘crypto-agility’. By this, NTT Data refers to companies’ ability to quickly adapt their existing encryption when it proves to be no longer secure, for example with the advent of scalable quantum computers.
In addition to technology, NTT Data also provides advice and support throughout the complete lifecycle of data security. This starts with a maturity assessment, followed by the implementation of Fortanix’s solution and further managed services.
