Check Point announces a partnership with Nvidia. This collaboration aims to add high-speed firewalls to Check Point Software’s offerings.
Check Point Software Technologies is a provider of IT security. To keep up with the latest trends in network security, the company announces a partnership with Nvidia. This move allows Quantum Lightspeed Firewalls to be added to the Check Point Quantum portfolio.
The technology would enable five times better throughput. Specifically, that puts the speed at a maximum of 3 Tbit/s per system and up to a maximum of 800 Gbit/s for a single gateway. In the firewall, this is combined with a low latency of 3 microseconds.
Particularly with the home office and hybrid work world in mind, the Quantum Lightspeed Firewall offers interesting prospects. “As more enterprises rely on hybrid data centers to conduct business transactions, they need to implement a solution with speed of network security,” said Dorit Dor, Chief Product Officer at Check Point. The firewall enables data transfer in minutes instead of hours.
Collaboration
The press release states that the Quantum Lightspeed Firewalls use “an innovative ASIC technology developed by Nvidia. ASIC stands for Application Specific Integrated Circuit, which means it is built with a specific task in mind.
Michael Kagan, CTO at Nvidia, releases some more details, “Nvidia is pushing zero-trust security in the data center. This enables innovators like Check Point to develop next-generation solutions, such as the Check Point Quantum Lightspeed security gateway, powered by the extreme performance of the NVIDIA ConnectX SmartNIC.”
