Bitdefender strengthens its XDR and MDR services with Mesh Security technology, specifically aimed at protection against email threats.
Bitdefender announces the acquisition of Mesh Security. This is a provider of email security technology. The acquisition is intended to strengthen Bitdefender’s existing solutions, including the GravityZone platform and XDR and MDR services, with new functionalities aimed at detecting and blocking email threats.
Two-layer Security
Mesh offers a two-layer approach to email security. On one side is a secure email gateway that filters incoming messages, and on the other side are API integrations at the mailbox level that enable additional detection. This combination should allow Bitdefender to gather broader threat intelligence and increase visibility on email-based attacks.
The acquisition is also intended to better support Bitdefender’s ecosystem of more than 41,000 partners, including managed service providers (MSPs). Mesh provides a centrally managed environment for multi-tenant email security. The solution is designed to easily integrate into existing workflows, and offers automatic policy rules and real-time threat intelligence.
According to Bitdefender, Mesh’s technology fits well within the existing GravityZone offering and aligns with the strategy to further strengthen email security in business environments. Bitdefender’s own research also shows that phishing and social engineering are seen as the biggest threats by IT professionals, so the acquisition addresses this as well. Financial details about the acquisition have not been disclosed.
