Axis Communications launches a Bluetooth reader that allows users to open doors with their smartphone, eliminating the need for physical keys or tags.
Network technology company Axis Communications has launched a new Bluetooth reader that enables users to open doors via their smartphone. The AXIS A4612 Network Bluetooth Reader is now available and expands the company’s access control portfolio.
Smartphone as a Digital Key
The AXIS A4612 uses Bluetooth technology to eliminate the need for physical keys or access tags. Users can open doors via a mobile app or by holding their phone near the reader. The reader is designed for both indoor and outdoor applications, such as stores, schools, and universities.

The device supports Power over Ethernet (PoE), simplifying installation. Additionally, it is compatible with common RFID cards (13.56 MHz) and integrates with other Axis systems, such as AXIS Camera Station Secure Entry. This allows access rights to be managed centrally and remotely.
Compact Design
Thanks to its sleek design, the reader is suitable for installation on narrow surfaces, such as door frames. The housing is IP55 and IK07 certified, making the reader suitable for use in various environments. The scratch-resistant glass front contributes to its durability.
The AXIS A4612 is now available through the usual sales channels.
