From now on, it is possible to link a location to a password in the password manager 1Password.
1Password makes it easier to quickly access the right login credentials. Thanks to a new feature, users can add a location to their saved passwords and other ‘items’ in various categories, such as credit cards or documents.
How does it work?
The password manager already makes it easy to quickly access frequently used or favorite passwords in the mobile app, without having to search. However, as that list of passwords grows, it can quickly become overwhelming.
Thanks to location data, users only see the most relevant passwords at the right moment. This way, finding passwords becomes much faster. Locations can be added directly when someone is at a specific place. Users can also select a location via a map and link an item to it.
The app also has the option to adjust distance settings. Passwords can only be displayed within a certain radius, ranging from fifteen meters to sixteen kilometers.
1Password emphasizes that privacy remains guaranteed. Location data is not stored, shared, or tracked, and all checks for nearby passwords take place exclusively on the device itself. Users who do not want to use the feature can disable it at any time.
