Proximus is playing an important role in the fiber optic network in Belgium, but it is not doing so alone. The telecom provider has been sitting around the table with other parties such as Telenet for some time. In this way, the providers want to reduce the high costs of laying fiber optics and reduce nuisances. Although BIPT did not immediately rule out such collaborations, the Belgian competition authority (BMA) launched an investigation into the fiber optic collaboration between Proximus and Telenet.

Overall increase

In addition to the increase in the fiber market, Proximus shares the results of its other subscriptions in the report. A net 47,000 new mobile subscribers were added. For Residential, that increase was 44,000 customers. In addition, 9,000 people joined a fixed Internet subscription this quarter. The number of TV subscriptions and fixed voice subscriptions fell, by 13,000 and 35,000 subscriptions, respectively.
