Thanks to BIPT’s temporary spectrum, Orange is making its 5G network available to all existing subscription customers.

Orange has started rolling out its 5G network to all subscription customers. Using temporary spectrum made available by the BIPT, Orange is gradually activating several 5G sites in Belgium. Antwerp is kicking off as the very first. This will be followed by Ghent, the coast and the cities of Bruges and Leuven.

The rest of the country must wait until the June 5G auction is over and there is more clarity on the evolution of radiation standards.

All Orange customers with a subscription, including hey! customers, can use 5G. All you need is an eligible and certified device.

Xavier Pichon, CEO of Orange Belgium, said, “Having proven the relevance of 5G for B2B customers and the future of the industry, we now think it’s time to extend the benefits of the technology to residential and business customers, to let them enjoy increased performance but also new experiences without increasing prices.”

Late last year, Orange opened another 5G lab in Antwerp. The innovation center is an extension of the 5G test network the provider launched in the port of Antwerp at the end of 2019.
